Steelheads And St. Luke's Announce Results Of Holiday Jersey Auction
Last weekend, the Idaho Steelheads teamed up with St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital for its annual jersey auction, with this year’s theme being a holiday jersey.
The jerseys were worn for both games last Friday and Saturday at Idaho Central Arena against the Rapid City Rush, a series which the Steelheads swept in front of sellout crowds. The specialty jerseys became available for fans to bid on through an online-only auction on Handbid, a mobile auction app.
Bidding began Friday at 4 Pm and closed on Sunday at noon. The winning bidders had the option to receive the jerseys either via pick-up or by mail, and jerseys were autographed by the player.
On Tuesday, the club announced total donations from the auction. Steelheads fans contributed $31,000 through the online auction, with all proceeds going back to St. Luke’s Children’s.
The specialty jerseys were designed by Steelheads’ front office member Karl Winks. A total of three jerseys were sold-out with a bid of $2,500 each including A.J. White, Nick Canade, and Matt Register.
The St. Luke’s jersey auction began during the 1997-98 season, and since then, a total of $712,064 has been raised.
The club will have two more jersey auctions this season including the St. Luke’s Pink in the Rink Specialty Jersey on Jan. 24 and 25 and the Jayden DeLuca Foundation Specialty Jersey on Feb. 21 and 22.
The Steelheads (15-10-2-0) are currently on a holiday break and sit in fifth place in the Mountain Division with 32 points. They will resume action Dec. 27 on the road against the Wichita Thunder.
