Here To Stay: Haaland signs new 10-year City contract!
Erling Haaland has signed a new 10-year Manchester City contract, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2034.
One of the finest strikers operating in the global game, the 24-year-old has enjoyed an extraordinary first two-and-a-half seasons since joining the Club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
In his first campaign at the Etihad, the Norwegian international proved one of the key catalysts in City’s march to a historic Treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
Along the way the striker claimed an incredible haul of 52 goals in all competitions – the biggest-ever tally by a Premier League player – as well as plundering a record total of 36 league goals, with Haaland also winning the Premier League Golden Boot.
A host of prestigious individual honours also came his way including the PFA Player of the Year prize, the Premier League Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards with Haaland also being named the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year.

Haaland then followed that record-breaking maiden season at City by making an equally seismic impact last term as City made yet more history by becoming the first English men’s team to win four consecutive top-flight titles.
Despite being sidelined for the best part of two months through injury, Erling weighed in with an astonishing 38 goals from 45 appearances - including 27 in the Premier League - to earn him a second successive Goden Boot.
The Norwegian has again been in prolific form so far across the 2024/25 campaign, claiming 16 goals in just 21 Premier League appearances to date and scoring 21 across all competitions from 28 games to date.
He already sits 15th on the Club’s list of all-time leading scorers.
Reflecting on his new deal, Haaland, said: “I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great Club.
“Manchester City is a special Club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody.
“I also want to thank Pep, his coaching staff, my teammates and everyone at the Club as they have all helped me so much in the past couple of years. They have made this such a special place to be and now I am City no matter what.
“I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward.”
City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: “Everyone at the Club is absolutely delighted that Erling has signed his new contract. The fact he is signed for so long demonstrates our commitment to him as a player, and his love of this club.
“He has made an incredible impact already in his time here and his amazing numbers and records speak for themselves.
“But in addition to his outstanding natural talent and ability, Erling’s dedication, professionalism, humility and desire to keep getting better sum up what we all strive to achieve at Manchester City.
“He is one of the finest strikers in world football, but Erling is still very young and will only continue to improve working under Pep and his coaching team. If he works hard, which I know he will, he will create an incredible legacy at this football club.
“Now he can focus on his game and continuing to play a huge part in helping us try to achieve even more success.”
Everyone at City is delighted with the news and we all wish Erling every success during the remainder of his time here.

A special striking talent
Across the multitude of outstanding talents to have lit up the Premier League since its inception more than 33 years ago, arguably none have made a more seismic and immediate impact than Erling Haaland.
From the get-go when Erling made the move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, it was clear that City had acquired a rare and special talent.
However, few could have predicted the way the striker would go on to illuminate the world’s most competitive league.
By whatever metric one wishes to measure his impact by, the 24-year-old Norwegian’s contribution to City’s success over the past few seasons has been of a magnitude never seen before in this country.
The centre forward had made the move to the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund already armed with a formidable reputation thanks to his superb exploits in the Bundesliga and before that with Austrian outfit RB Salzburg and Molde in his native Norway.
Furthermore, Haaland had arrived in Manchester possessing a special family connection to the Club. Dad Alfie was a fondly remembered City player himself from the early 2000s – with Erling having also famously been pictured wearing a City shirt as a young boy.
But no-one could have predicted the extraordinary impact Haaland would immediately have on City in particular and the English game in general.
His maiden season at the Etihad saw the boy from Byrne rewrite the record books in numerous astonishing ways.
A two-goal Premier League debut haul away at West Ham proved the prelude to a season like no other – both individually and collectively – as Pep Guardiola’s side stormed to an era-defining Treble.
Haaland’s remarkable goal scoring feats were front and centre of that 2022/23 campaign for the ages.
The stats alone made for quite dizzying reading.

Haaland’s cumulative total of 52 goals in all competitions represented the biggest haul ever by a Premier League player.
Along the way to hitting that astounding landmark, Erling also created another slice of notable history, his tally of 36 goals also seeing him break the record previously held by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer for the most Premier League strikes in a single season.
Meanwhile, Erling carved out another unique chapter in Manchester City history, a five-goal special during March’s 7-0 Champions League last 16 second leg win over RB Leipzig seeing him score the most goals in a single season for the Club, overhauling the previous tally of 38 set by Tommy Johnstone – a record that had stood the test of time since the 1928/29 campaign.
The striker also plundered six hat-tricks in all competitions – as many as every other Premier League player combined - with Haaland also notching up trebles in three consecutive Etihad league games back in the Autumn of 2022 against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United in what was another top-flight first.
It was a compelling, era defining campaign that saw fans and pundits alike run out of superlatives in trying to describe Haaland’s astounding impact.
The range of goals were also memorable. From predatory close-range finishes to towering headers, from acrobatic, balletic leaps where Haaland appeared to defy the laws of gravity to thunderous shots and lung bursting runs, his repertoire was simply extraordinary
Equally eye-catching was the way Haaland went about his record-breaking business.
For a player with the eyes of the world trained on him week in, week out, from the off Erling played with a smile on his face, the joy of playing football for his beloved City plain for all to see.
Allied to that freedom of expression he also demonstrated a relentless hunger and drive to constantly seek to improve and learn – the very fundamentals of Pep Guardiola’s approach to football.
Individual accolades also quickly followed suit in the wake of his towering contribution to City’s greatest-ever season.
Amongst a plethora of individual awards, Haaland was voted the PFA Player of the Year, the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year – Erling gaining more than 80 per cent of the votes cast – as well being acclaimed as both the Premier League Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
The obvious question after all those Herculean feats was a simple one: ‘How on earth do you follow that?’
Haaland’s answer – as always – was to let his football do the talking in the most eloquent fashion and carry on from where he left off… by scoring lots more goals.
All told last season, Erling weighed in with a remarkable 38 goals from 45 appearances – 27 coming in the Premier League alone – a feat which earned him a second successive Golden Boot prize.
It would have been even more but for a near two-month winter lay-off due to a stress reaction in his foot.
Haaland’s efforts proved instrumental in helping pilot Guardiola’s side to an unprecedented fourth straight Premier League title - the first time any English men’s side had achieved such a phenomenal feat.
Erling also helped City secure the UEFA Super Cup last August although sadly that mid-winter foot injury meant he was unable to figure in our FIFA Club World Cup triumph in Saudi Arabia in late 2023.
Along the way Haaland also became the quickest player in Premier League history to register 50 goals, as well as being the youngest and quickest to reach the 40-goal career tally in the UEFA Champions League.
Before 2023 was out, more individual awards followed suit with Erling the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Gerd Muller Trophy at that year’s Ballon d’Or awards before also being named as the 2023 BBC Sports Personality World Star of the Year.
Once again though Erling was at pains to remind everyone it was about the collective not the individual.
Fit and refreshed after a rare lengthy 2024 summer break, Haaland once again came roaring out of the blocks once the 2024/25 season got underway claiming back-to-back hat-tricks against Ipswich and West Ham before August was out.
Erling then became just the 19th player to chalk up a century of goals for City when scoring in September’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
And, more latterly, his brace in our 4-1 home win over West Ham in what was City’s first game of 2025 saw him become the third highest Premier League scorer in Etihad history, the double taking his tally to an incredible 46 strikes on home turf from just 44 appearances.
Now, in the wake of his new contract, Erling is set to bring more joy and delight to the City faithful over the rest of this season and beyond.
