The heatmap for this game matches well with Head Coach Rick Tocchet's post-game comments, as the Canucks did not do a good job protecting the middle of the ice. The Blackhawks were able to generate scoring chances from "the guts of the ice" all night, with Kevin Lankinen facing a total of eight high-danger shots. Ultimately, Vancouver was lucky that Lankinen played so well, or this game would have been a lot closer than 6-3.

One forward line that stood out was the trio of Danton Heinen, Teddy Blueger and Kiefer Sherwood. The third line combined for two goals and finished the night with a 2-1 high-danger chances advantage. Whether it was Heinen's goalscoring, Blueger's strong night in the faceoff or Sherwood's franchise-tying 12 hits, all three players had impactful nights in the win.

Lastly, the pairing of Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek was once again Vancouver's best duo. During their 14:18 of even strength time, the Canucks held a 10-4 shots advantage while outscoring Chicago 2-0. While it is still early in the season, it looks like the duo has taken another step forward and continues to be one of the best pairs across the NHL.
