The Canucks captured both a victory on the scoresheet as well as from an analytics perspective. At even-strength, Vancouver won the scoring chances battle 20-15 while also creating more high-danger scoring chances by a count of 6-3. In the end, it was a strong defensive effort from the team, who only allowed a total of four high-danger chances in all situations.

As for the heatmap, it is a good representation of how strong the Canucks played in their defensive zone. The majority of shots from the Blues came from distance, with 17 of their total shots registering as low-danger. Ultimately, if Vancouver can string a few of these types of performances together, they should be able to get on a roll ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off.

While there were many standouts, the Canucks best forward line from an analytics perspective was the trio of Jake DeBrusk, Pius Suter and Conor Garland. During their 11:34 of ice time, Vancouver held a 7-2 shots advantage and won the high-danger scoring chances battle 3-0. If this trio can continue their strong performances, it will go a long way in helping the Canucks get back above the playoff bar.

To wrap things up, one of the best players on the ice Monday was Tyler Myers. In his return from suspension, Myers recorded a goal and an assist while posting an even-strength xGF% of 71.66. In the end, Myers showed just how valuable he is to Vancouver's lineup as he was able to step up and form a strong duo with Quinn Hughes.
