Who will start for Bears at safety in place of injured Jaquan Brisker vs. Jaguars
The Chicago Bears (3-2) are gearing up for a London showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) on Sunday morning, where the defense will look to continue its dominance -- only this time, they'll be without one key member of the secondary.
The Bears have ruled out safety Jaquan Brisker, who suffered a concussion in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. He delivered a big hit on Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble, who exited the game with a concussion. While Brisker returned -- having cleared concussion protocol -- he reported concussion symptoms on Monday morning, and the team diagnosed him.
With Brisker sidelined, head coach Matt Eberflus revealed that it'll be third-year safety Elijah Hicks stepping in opposite veteran Kevin Byard III.
"Elijah's done a really good job for us in the past," Eberflus said. "He's been in our system. We trust him, know him. ... He's excited for the opportunity."
The Bears secondary has been arguably the best in the NFL through five weeks, where they've held opponents to 174 passing yards per game, generated five interceptions this season and have allowed zero passing touchdowns in the last three games.
