Dallas Stars defenceman Roman Polak left Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins on a stretcher after colliding into the boards during the second period.

Polak lost his edge while battling against Bruins forward Chris Wagner for a loose puck and the play was whistled dead almost immediately.

The 33-year-old remained down on the ice for several minutes before the stretcher came out, with both teams visibly shaken.

Polak was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Polak and that the injury is less serious than it appeared.
