Stars Netminder Looking For Revenge In Early Season Finale vs. Maple Leafs
The Dallas Stars are back in action Tuesday night and are hoping that they can snap a losing streak while starting a new one. Dallas currently is looking to end a seven game losing streak to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The most recent loss came back on Dec. 18th where the Stars fell short at home, 5-3.
Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger will be searching for a different outcome tonight, as he was chased after two periods in the previous matchup that saw Oettinger give up four goals on 12 shots against. The loss at home to Toronto has seemingly lit a fire under Oettinger as he has gone on to put forth a record of 5-1-1 with along with a .915 save percentage. The 26-year-old goaltender also has his own winning streak to consider, as he has yet to drop a game in the new year. Oettinger boasts a record of 4-0 and a goals against average of 2.16 during the month of January.
Oettinger will have to contend with Toronto's top goalscorer in William Nylander. Nylander comes into tonight's contest with a team best 24 goals. The 2014 8th overall pick is hoping to break out of a six-game dry spell where he's only tallied one point during that stretch. The Stars and Maple Leafs will kick off their early season finale tonight with a 6pm CST puck drop tonight in Toronto to conclude the Stars' road trip.
