Stars Look to Win Sixth Straight, Extend Winning History against Flyers
The Dallas Stars look to win their sixth straight game and extend their point streak to eight straight when travelling to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
This matchup heavily favours the Stars as they've won seven of their last eight games against the Flyers with two or fewer goals allowed in six of the matchups. In the past two matchups, Philadelphia has started to figure out the Dallas defence with nine goals scored.
The Flyers have lost three straight games and have just four wins in their last 11 home games. They are desperately looking for a bounce in the right direction towards their race for a playoff spot and they will get a decent shot with the Stars opting to rest starter Jake Oettinger and are going to roll with backup Casey DeSmith, who has a three or more goals allowed in four of his seven career starts against Philadelphia.
The Stars offence will likely need to keep them in this one, which means we can expect another impressive showing from the dynamic duo of Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston.
Despite normally playing on different lines, the two forwards have helped carry the Stars in some crucial spots with a combined six goals and 20 points over their recent eight-game hot streak.
They will do their best to outperform the Flyers lethal third line which features Noah Cates and Tyson Foerster. Philadelphia's red hot duo may not be making headlines or scoring highlight reel goals like Robertson and Johnston but make no mistake, the Flyers have two difference making players with Cates and Foerster combining for 11 goals over their last ten games.
The Flyers also have a two-time all-star in the lineup with Travis Konecny, who has reminded opposing defences, he's still a threat with four goals in his last four games.
It should make for a thrilling matchup that will be closer than people expect.
