Stars' Esa Lindell embarrassingly flops to ice multiple times

In the heat of the NHL postseason, hockey players will do absolutely anything to help their team come out on top and inch closer to the Stanley Cup. Blocking shots, taking big hits and battling along the boards are just a few of the brave, physical sacrifices that these individuals are willing to do for a chance at their team’s success.

If your name is Esa Lindell, though, completely embarrassing yourself in hopes of drawing a penalty is also on that list.

During Game 3 of the second-round matchup between the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars, the Blues had the puck pinned on the boards in their zone during a second period penalty kill. Just outside of the scrum, Lindell took a shot from Blues defender Robert Bortuzzo and popped back up. Seconds later, the Stars blueliner took another shot from Bortuzzo and flopped to the ice once again.

In the process, Bortuzzo’s rage began to build.

When the play was eventually blown dead, Bortuzzo decided not to use his words while attempting to explain his frustrations with Lindell.

Instead, he used his stick.

Yet again, the Stars defenceman provided a performance that would make Neymar proud as he fell to the ice for a third time in less than 20 seconds.

In the end, Lindell received a minor penalty for embellishment while Bortuzzo also got one for cross checking.

Shockingly, Bortuzzo was not happy about it. Not even a little.

Bortuzzo and his teammates had the last laugh, though.

A late goal in the third period by Pat Maroon gave the Blues their fourth lead of the game and St. Louis was able to hang on for the 4-3 win.

Where was Lindell for that final goal, you may ask?

Yup, you guessed it: He was laying on the ice after some contact with Maroon seconds before the tally.

The Blues now lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.

That didn’t stop their supporters from making a few small adjustment’s to Lindell’s Wikipedia page after his antics, though.
