St. Louis Blues 2025 World Junior Championship Roundup Day 4: Dvorsky, Pekarcik Put On Show For Slovakia In Win Against Kazakhstan

Dalibor Dvorsky and Juraj Pekarcik each had a day Monday at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, and as predicted on Sunday, the opportunity presented itself against the opponent.

Each collected four points (two goals, two assists) when Slovakia raced out to a three-goal first period lead, only to hold off upset-minded Kazakhstan 5-4 in overtime in Ottawa.

Pekarcik assisted on the game-winner by Maxim Strabak in overtime after Kazakhstan roared back with two third-period goals to tie the game:

Dvorsky, a 2023 first-round pick (No. 10 overall) who had six shots, played 22:31 and was a plus-1 and is now tied for the tournament lead with seven points (four goals, three assists) in four games, with fellow Blues prospect Jakub Stancl (2023, fourth round) of Czechia.

He opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the game:

Dvorsky scored again to make it 2-0 on a sweet feed from Pekarcik:

Pekarcik, a 2023 third-round pick who was a plus-2 with three shots in 21:33, then got in on the scoring in the first period when Slovakia outshot Kazakhstan 16-1:

He and Dvorsky then hooked up on a fourth goal in the second period to make it 4-1 with a beautiful rooftop shot:

The win puts Slovakia into the quarterfinal round.

* Stenberg injured -- Blues forward Otto Stenberg (2023, first round, 25th overall) collided with a teammate in Sweden's practice on Monday. He was looked at on the bench, according to the clip below, before departing the ice:

* Looking ahead -- The winner between Sweden (Stenberg and Theo Lindstein) and Czechia (Stancl, Adam Jiricek, Adam Jecho and Ondrej Kos) will win Group B; they clash on Tuesday at 4 p.m. while Colin Ralph and USA go up against Canada in another marquee matchup at 7 p.m. Each game can be seen on NHL Network in the US and on TSN in Canada.
