Sprong Nets Game-Winning Goal As Kraken Shutout Predators 3-0!

Seattle, WA - Yesterday morning, a pumped-up Daniel Sprong told the media that the Kraken needed "to be more aggressive". Tonight, at Climate Pledge Arena, the boys of the sound did just that against the visiting Nashville Predators, shutting them out 3-0.

Sprong's snap shot in the second period past Preds' netminder Juuse Saros was his first as a Kraken this season and gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.

Assisting Sprong on his first point was Chandler Stephenson, who earned three points and was named the first star for his three assists on all three Kraken goals. His 12 assists this season are tied for first with Jared McCann.

Brandon Montour also picked up an assist on Sprong's goal and scored one of his own in the third period. Montour's insurance goal brings his point total to 13 (5G/8A) and ties him for second-most among all Kraken players.

Jaden Schwartz earned two points with two assists tonight, giving him four points (1G/3A) in his last five games. Yanni Gourde’s empty-net goal was his second consecutive goal in the last two games.

The crowd erupted with chants of "Jo-ey, Jo-ey, Jo-ey!" as Daccord was announced as the game's third star for stopping all 24 shots he faced and recording his first shutout of the season.

The Kraken outshot the Predators 36-24, and the wall of Daccord frustrated Nashville’s attempts to score. Despite Saros’s 33 saves for the Predators, it was the fourth time Nashville has been shut out this season and the second time in the past three games. The Preds seemed frazzled from puck drop, starting with a penalty at 0:43 for not starting the listed lineup.

Wednesday night's win closes out the Kraken's longest homestand of the season. Seattle hits the road on Saturday to face the L.A. Kings, followed by a game in Anaheim against the Ducks on Monday.
