Sprint car driver Tanner Thorson injured in California highway crash
Sprint car driver Tanner Thorson suffered broken bones in a highway crash early Monday morning in Modesto, California.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Thorson was hauling his sprint cars on Highway 99 and collided with a milk truck. Per KCRA, the highway patrol said Thorson didn’t slow down in time when entering a construction zone and drowsiness could have played a role in the crash, which occurred around 4 a.m. Thorson’s injuries are not life-threatening.

“This could have been really bad, we have active workers out here [who] could have been easily hit or struck by these vehicles,” Highway Patrol officer Thomas Olsen said via CBS 13 in Sacramento.
Thorson, 22, made his NASCAR debut in 2018. He drove in 11 Truck Series races for Young’s Motorsports. His best finish came at Bristol in August when he finished 14th. He’s set to compete full-time in USAC in 2019 racing midget cars.
