Retail outlets and hobby influencers are putting exorbitant bounties on rare sports cards. It is quite simple, if you open a pack of cards containing one of the cards with the bounty being offered, you can become a millionaire.

Sounds easy, right? It is not that easy, the odds at pulling the bounty cards can be one in millions. Packs containing the bounty cards can cost north of $20.

Paying $20 for a pack of sports cards with a chance to become a millionaire is a better proposition than risking your life on a mountain.

Dave and Adam's Card World did something never seen before in the hockey sports card community. They put a $1 million bounty on the Upper Deck Young Guns Connor Bedard Gold Outburst 1/1.

The bounties stretch beyond hockey.

Blez Sports Cards has offered a $1,000,000 bounty for the person that pulls the Victor Wembanyama one-of-one Superfractor from Topps Chrome Basketball.

A battle of bounties broke out over a Topps Now card featuring autographs of LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant. The initial bounty offered was $100,000 from Sports Card Investor founder Geoff Wilson.

Wilson, founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions Ken Golden, and Grand Slam Collectibles owner Nate Burns engaged in a high stakes game of bounties. Grand Slam Collectibles has the current highest bounty offered at $500,000.

There is a print run of 588,035 cards and the cost per card is $11.99. One lucky collector may be calling Burns in the next few days looking to cash in.

Seven-figure bounties are not just limited to sports cards. Dave and Adam's Card World issued a $1 million bounty for a one-of-one card Magic the Gathering Lord of the Rings card.

Musician Post Malone ended up purchasing the card for $2 million.

Are High Value Bounties Good for the Sports Card Industry?
