Patrik Allvin (ahl-VEEN') of the Vancouver Canucks, Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars and Bill Zito of the Florida Panthers were named the finalists for this season's Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award yesterday. Allvin is a first-time finalist. He helped the Canucks finish first in the Pacific Division and third in the Western Conference with a 50-23-and-nine record before Vancouver lost to Edmonton in a seven-game series in the second round.

The Professional Women's Hockey League finals are back on tonight with the series shifting to Minnesota for Game Three. Boston looks to regain its edge in the series after falling 3-0 at home to Minnesota in Game Two on Tuesday. Boston took the best-of-five series opener 4-3 on Sunday.

The W-N-B-A is officially coming to Toronto. Kilmer Sports Ventures has been awarded a women's professional basketball team. The official announcement was made yesterday morning at a press conference at a downtown Toronto hotel attended by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, rapper Drake and Toronto Raptors star Scottie Barnes. The as-yet-unnamed team will play out of the 87-hundred-seat Coca-Cola Coliseum -- an arena in downtown Toronto at Exhibition Place. They will also have the ability to move up to the Scotiabank Arena on occasion.

The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Dallas Mavericks for Game Two of their N-B-A Western Conference final series tonight. Minnesota dropped the opener 108-105 on Wednesday at home. Last night, Boston defeated Indiana 126-110 to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in Detroit for the second of their four-game series against the Tigers in Major League Baseball action. Toronto won 9-1 last night in the series opener. Alek Manoah (MUH'-noh-ah) will start on the mound for the Jays, while the Tigers counter with Matt Manning.
