What is a sports equinox? Explaining the 4-sport phenomenon we see rarely
HEY GUESS WHAT IT'S A SPORTS EQUINOX!!
That's right, on October 28, 2024, we're getting a night of all kinds of sports action.
Actually, wait, let's back it up. You might be asking: what the heck is a sports equinox and why is everyone talking about it?
This is the nickname for a day and night when so many sports leagues — NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL -- play. We've got regular-season action in the NBA and NHL, a Monday Night Football game and the World Series. There's one very important issue with the term, as we've noted in the past: it doesn't include women's sports as part of the equinox, and that really does need to change.
There you have it!
Today is the 31st sports equinox in history — and the sports schedule is PACKED:
• 8 NHL Games
• 11 NBA Games
• 2 MLS Playoff Games
• Monday Night Football
• Game 3 of the World Series
