Spider-Man: No Way Home set up a new status quo for Tom Holland's superhero and did big numbers at the box office, but we've heard next to nothing about a fourth solo MCU film since then... until now.

In a new interview with Variety to promote the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal said that Spider-Man 4 is going to happen — it's just on hold at the minute.

"Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are," she said.

"We're in the process, but [with] the writers' strike, nobody is working during the strike. We're all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we'll get started."

While the Writers Guild of America campaigns for better residuals from the streaming boom, scripts aren't being produced for TV shows and movies, and projects that already have scripts aren't allowed to be rewritten during filming.

Elsewhere during the interview, Pascal teased that a live-action movie featuring Miles Morales' Spider-Man and a Spider-Woman film are both going to happen. Fellow producer Avi Arad stated that we'll see the latter "sooner than you expect".

Sony also has a Kraven the Hunter movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson on the way later this year, while a Madame Web movie starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney is due to swing into cinemas in early 2024.

Of course, Tom Holland's Spidey could also return for the next Avengers movie, The Kang Dynasty, which is currently set for a May 2025 release. Given that everyone in that universe has forgotten who Peter Parker is, it'll be interesting to see what they do with the character.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to buy now on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and other digital retailers.
