“Spectacle of a player”- Club president describes hails future Chelsea ace as fan excitement builds
Palmeiras president Leila Pereira believes future Chelsea star Estevao Willian will one day be voted the best player in the world.
The Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras for the 17-year-old last summer worth up to £51.4m and the teenager is set to join after the Club World Cup when he turns 18.
Estevao is regarded as the biggest talent in South America and after missing out on Endrick to Real Madrid, Chelsea acted fast to make sure the same thing didn’t happen again.
Estevao set to be a star
Chelsea have increasingly tapped into the South American market under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership as they look to sign the best talent the continent has to offer.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Estevao, who is already a full Brazil international, whilst he’s also broken Neymar’s records in the Brazilian league.
Estevao has already spoken about how he wants to become the most successful Brazilian player in Chelsea’s history and he certainly has lofty ambitions.
He’s clearly an exceptional talent, but Chelsea will need to make sure they nurture him and provide him an environment he can flourish in, because they do have a potential future superstar on their hands.
Palmeiras president Pereira has described the precocious teenager as a “spectacle” of a player and feels he’s going to shine in Europe.
“Estevao is a spectacle of a player,” she told The Athletic.
“Already ready for the Premier League? It’s up to Chelsea to say but, one day, he will be voted the best player in the world. He’s a spectacular kid and he’s going to shine in Europe.”

It’s important Chelsea don’t put too much pressure on Estevao as this is a huge change for the youngster, and it will take him time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
Whether he will be sent on loan remains to be seen, but it’s thought the plan is for Estevao to go straight into the first team squad and compete for minutes.
