Aston Villa are looking for their second victory in pre-season as they travel to Slovakia to face Spartak Trnava in a friendly this Saturday.

The Villans kicked off an exciting campaign with a 3-0 victory over Midlands foes Walsall, with Morgan Rogers bagging a first-half brace and young Louie Barry netting a late third. It was the opening pre-season outing for Unai Emery's side, who need to build momentum ahead of their first Champions League campaign since 1982/83.

The Premier League side have been busy this summer with a number of signings, including Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley and Samuel Iling-Junior. But now their talented squad need to focus their attention to what happens on the pitch as they travel across Europe for a meeting with Spartak Trnava.

The Slovakian outfit will use this as a warm-up for their Champions League qualifying match this coming Thursday, with the beginning of the 1. Liga season coming next weekend.

Aston Villa team news

Aston Villa are still without a number of players due to this summer's international tournaments, with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa, Emiliano Martinez and Jhon Duran missing having reached major finals at Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

As a result, Emery will have some decisions to make and could well use two separate lineups for each half, as he did against Walsall.

The Midlands side are also missing a number of injured players, including Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Emiliano Buendia and Jacob Ramsey.

Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Spartak Trnava (4-3-3): Olsen; Nedeljkovic, Carlos, Torres, Digne; Barkley, Young, Barrenechea; Bailey, Barry, Rogers.

Spartak Trnava have failed to win any of their pre-season friendlies to date and have been leaking goals, with Aston Villa set to take advantage in a routine victory.

The Villans could grab themselves a hatful depending on the lineup Emery chooses, but a front line containing the likes of Cameron Archer, Morgan Rogers, Leon Bailey and Iling-Junior should enjoy themselves.
