Spanish football legend bids farewell: Sevilla announce details of Jesús Navas tribute event
The last few years have seen a definite shift in the landscape of Spanish football; the old guard is making way for the new generation, and this shift will take one step further as legendary winger Jesús Navas is set to retire.
Sevilla isn’t going to let their legendary captain hang up his boots without saying goodbye. The Andalucian club have announced a farewell event to send their biggest club legend off in style.
Taking place on the 30th of December at the club’s iconic Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium, the event promises an unforgettable affair which is set to be as emotional as it is heartfelt.
The event will be open to the general public, with priority given to season-ticket holders and club members, giving everyone the chance to say goodbye to a true club icon.
Having played 700 games in the red and white of Sevilla, Navas is the record-holder for most appearances at the club, and is part of the furniture at the club, so his retirement will be sorely felt by the Sevillistas who spend their time and money following the club on a weekly basis.
With just over a month until the 38-year-old hangs up his boots, we still have a little bit of time to enjoy this Spanish football icon while we still can.
