As confirmed earlier today, FC Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has been sidelined with an ankle injury, with the winger set to be out for a period of two to three weeks.

The blow means that the 17-year-old will now miss Spain’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark this weekend and Switzerland next week.

Luis de la Fuente reacts to Yamal injury

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente spoke at a media appearance today, during which he addressed Yamal’s injury and wished the Barcelona sensation a speedy recovery.

“Barcelona, as all clubs do, have sent us the report with the relevant tests and we thought it was appropriate for him not to travel, as it meant having to go through this procedure again here, which was no longer necessary,” said De la Fuente.

“I hope he recovers as soon as possible,” he added.

De la Fuente has already called up Bryan Gil as a replacement for Lamine, who will remain in Barcelona and focus on his recovery over the course of the international break.

Prior to missing the Real Sociedad clash on Sunday, the La Masia sensation had featured in 16 games across all competitions with a return of six goals and eight assists.

Barcelona will hope that the youngster’s recovery progresses well and that he is ready to return in time for the Celta Vigo clash right after the international break.
