Goalkeeper Josep Martinez is “proud” to join Inter Milan.

In his first interview after completing a transfer from Genoa, via FCInterNews, the Spaniard called the Nerazzurri the “best club in Serie A.”

Now it’s official. Martinez is an Inter player.

The 26-year-old former RB Leipzig and Las Palmas goalkeeper has signed a five-year deal to join the Nerazzurri from Genoa.

Martinez is the player who Inter have decided on as their long-term solution in goal.

Next season, the Spaniard will back up the more experienced Yann Sommer in goal. He could also compete for the starting spot over the course of the campaign.

Then, in seasons to come, Martinez is a player Inter are backing to inherit the starting shirt from Sommer.

Given his age, Martinez could certainly be Inter’s starting keeper for years to come.
