Southampton have announced the news that attacker Sophia Pharoah has left the club upon the expiry of her contract at St Mary’s Stadium.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this morning.

Southampton had been locked in contract talks with the player for a number of weeks, however, a deal could not be agreed and Pharoah has now moved on.

The 23-year-old initially joined Southampton’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) seven years ago. Pharoah briefly went on to enjoy a short spell at Brighton & Hove Albion before she returned to St Mary’s Stadium in summer 2019. Since returning to Southampton, Pharoah has gone on to win the FA Women’s National League Championship Play-Off Final while she has played an important part in helping the club to cement their place in the elite game. She has scored nine goals in 25 appearances for The Saints at Barclays Women’s Championship level.

Pharoah’s departure is a further blow for Southampton. The club have lost the services of three quality players this summer with both Ella Morris and Katie Wilkinson having also moved on. Southampton have brought in Rachel Rowe while further new arrivals are expected at St Mary’s Stadium in the coming weeks.
