South Carolina WBB locks in dates for UConn, four other home games for 2024-25 season

South Carolina women’s basketball on Wednesday announced three more games for its 2024-25 “repeat tour” schedule and a tip-off date for its highly anticipated rivalry game versus UConn.

The Gamecocks will take on the Huskies Feb. 16 at Colonial Life Arena. USC also formally unveiled four more home opponents: East Carolina on Nov. 17, USF on Dec. 16, Charleston Southern on Dec. 19 and Wofford on Dec. 29.

UConn returns to South Carolina for the second year in a row instead of having the Gamecocks play the Huskies in Connecticut. That’s because the 2022 USC-UConn game, set for Colonial Life Arena, was canceled in order for South Carolina to make up an SEC game postponed by COVID-19. This 2025 meeting in Columbia will make up for that cancellation.

Twelve of South Carolina’s game dates for the 2024-25 season have been revealed. Two non-conference games still to be slotted on the calendar are Clemson (which will be played in Clemson) and a home game against former USC assistant Fred Chmiel’s Bowling Green. South Carolina signed a home-and-home contract with BGSU last year. The Gamecocks went to Ohio in 2023 and defeated the Falcons 93-62.

USC’s 16-game SEC schedule will be released at a later date.

South Carolina went 38-0 last season, defeating Iowa in the national title game in Cleveland. It was the first perfect season in NCAA Division I since UConn in 2016 and coach Dawn Staley’s third NCAA championship.
