South Carolina WBB’s 2024-25 schedule coming together. Here’s the latest

The South Carolina women’s basketball team’s 2024-25 “repeat tour” schedule is coming together.

The Gamecocks will participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off event from Nov. 28-30, it was announced Wednesday. South Carolina will compete in the “Island” division with Iowa State, Purdue and Middle Tennessee State.

The “Shell” division will consist of Michigan (which play South Carolina in Vegas Nov. 4 to open the season), Belmont, Virginia Tech and Davidson. South Carolina men’s basketball will also participate in the event from Nov. 25-27.

While the Shell division will play a traditional bracketed tournament (three games), teams in the Island division with the Gamecocks will play just two games against “predetermined opponents.” South Carolina will face off against Iowa State Nov. 28 and Purdue Nov. 30.

The Gamecocks will not play MTSU, the other team in the event. Games will be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Florida SouthWestern State College’s campus in Fort Myers.

Iowa State (21-12) reached the Big 12 championship game last year and reached the NCAA Tournament Round of 32, narrowly losing to No. 2 Stanford as a No. 7 seed. The Cyclones are led by star center Audi Crooks, who was a freshman All American and averaged 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game on 57.7% shooting.

Purdue was 15-19 last year and missed the NCAA Tournament.

Other notable games on USC’s schedule as it currently stands are a Final Four rematch with N.C. State in Charlotte on Nov. 10, a cross country battle at UCLA on Nov. 24 and two games (one at home and one away) versus Texas as part of the new 16-team SEC schedule.

The Gamecocks will host the UConn Huskies again as a continuation of that East Coast rivalry and the Duke Blue Devils as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge. South Carolina will also welcome home former assistant Fred Chmiel and his Bowling Green Falcons to finish their home-and-home contract.

USC is the defending national champion and went 38-0 last season, defeating Iowa in the title game in Cleveland to give coach Dawn Staley her third national championship.
