TOP STORYLINES FOR THE GAME
▪ Can the Gamecocks keep it going? Simply put, the Gamecocks closed by dropping a hammer on Texas A&M. That was powered by a resurgent run game and QB LaNorris Sellers dodging sack after sack. If the Gamecocks stay at a high level, they might well flatten the Commodores. But keeping that up is easier said than done.
▪ How feisty will Vanderbilt be? The Commodores and QB Diego Pavia have been tricky this season, winning a lot of things on the margins at key moments. The offense has been more effective than the defense, but both have shown a lot of ability to play above their baseline. If Vandy is hitting defensively and Pavia is scrambling for close first downs over and over, it will be a bear for the Gamecocks to handle.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR NASHVILLE
The National Weather Service predicts temperatures near 70, with rain chances between 50% and 80% during the game. “Showers likely, mainly after 4 p.m.,” the forecast reads. “The rain could be heavy at times.”
ESPN FPI GAME PREDICTION
ESPN’s Football Power Index gives South Carolina a 58.8% chance to win the game.
POINT SPREAD
