Barcelona’s pursuit of Jonathan Tah is progressing well, but there is still one significant obstacle standing in their way: Bayern Munich’s refusal to give up on the defender.

Recent reports from SPORT indicate that Bayern Munich are determined to sign the 28-year-old centre-back, despite Tah’s desire to move on at the end of his current contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has been in Germany recently, working on the final details to secure Tah’s move to Barcelona for the upcoming season.

His trip is a clear sign that negotiations are progressing, and it shows that both the player and Barcelona are keen on the idea of the transfer.

A long-term target

Tah has been on Barcelona’s radar for several months, and his move is becoming more likely as his contract with Leverkusen nears its end.

There is no indication that he will renew his deal with Bayer Leverkusen, and according to sources, both Tah and his agent, Pini Zahavi, have ruled out the possibility of staying.

The negotiations between Barcelona and Tah’s representatives are said to be moving smoothly.

In fact, Barcelona have put forward an attractive proposal, which could see the player join the Catalan club as a free agent when his contract expires.

This would allow Barcelona to avoid paying a transfer fee, making the deal even more appealing for the club.

However, Bayern Munich are not ready to give up just yet. Despite Tah’s interest in leaving, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, is reportedly continuing his efforts to convince the player to stay in the Bundesliga and sign for Bayern.

The German giants are still pushing to keep Tah, and this competition remains the only barrier to Barcelona finalizing the deal. While Barcelona’s chances appear strong, Bayern’s persistence means the outcome is not yet certain.
