Sources: Warriors trading Andrew Bogut to Mavericks

In a move necessary to clear the salary-cap space needed to sign Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors reached agreement on a trade to send Andrew Bogut to the Dallas Mavericks, league sources told The Vertical.

Dallas will absorb Bogut into cap space and send a future second-round pick to the Warriors, sources said. Bogut will join Warriors forward Harrison Barnes – who will sign with Dallas after becoming an unrestricted free agent once he's renounced by Golden State – in moving to the Mavericks.

The Warriors are also trying to re-sign center Marreese Speights, who has played eight years in the league, sources said. Golden State is withdrawing the qualifying offer and renouncing the cap hold of center Festus Ezeli, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Bogut, 31, came to the Warriors in a trade midway through the 2011-12 season that sent guard Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks. He has averaged 10.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in his 11-season career, including 5.4 points, seven rebounds and 1.6 blocks this season.
