Source: Clemson's K.J. McDaniels plans to enter NBA draft

Clemson junior K.J. McDaniels plans to announce this week that he is entering the 2014 NBA draft, a source told Yahoo Sports.

McDaniels averaged 17.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 blocks and 1.2 assists last season. The 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year was the only player in NCAA Division I to lead his team in points, rebounds, blocks, steals and 3-pointers. The athletic 6-foot-6, 198-pound small forward had a difficult time deciding whether to enter the draft, but sources say family reasons were a strong factor in his decision to leave Clemson.

DraftExpress.com ranks McDaniels as the 20th-best overall draft prospect. Several NBA scouts told Yahoo Sports that he could be selected anywhere from late first round to early second round. One NBA scout said McDaniels would be a definite first-round pick next year if he were to stay at Clemson for his senior season.
