‘You have to say sorry’: Garnacho’s brother addresses claims Ten Hag ‘forgave’ youngster for social media activity

For the first time in a long time, all seems to be well in the Manchester United dressing room – even if it hasn’t been an immaculate start to the season.

That’s not to say there haven’t been some off-pitch blips in the road, though. Earlier this month, Alejandro Garnacho’s social media activity did the rounds – and not for the first time – after he liked an Instagram post relaying Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism of United’s current affairs, as well as Erik ten Hag. It was, however, quickly unliked.

Nothing came of the incident outside of fan discussion, and when the youngster was dropped to the bench for last week’s win over Southampton, sources were quick to clarify that it was simply a tactical decision rather than a disciplinary one.

He proceeded to start the Reds’ midweek Carabao Cup clash vs Barnsley, immediately repaying his manager’s faith with a stellar showing, during which he returned two goals and two assists. He was then spotted covering his mouth and laughing with Ten Hag when replaced by Amad Diallo in the later stages of the tie, prompting one supporter to post: “Looks like Ten Hag forgave Garnacho for liking that post.”

No hard feelings between Garnacho and Ten Hag

Garnacho’s younger brother, Roberto, then responded: “Ofc (of course). When you have (make) a mistake outside the pitch, you have to say sorry based on [your] performances. Not going out blaming anyone.”

Alas, all seems to be well between the pair – not that it should’ve been a pressing issue in the first place!
