Atlético Madrid have been offered the opportunity to sign Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat (27), according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato. The Morocco international has returned to La Viola upon the expiry of his season-long loan to Premier League giants Manchester United. Amrabat is entering his final contract year with the Serie A side. The outlet understands that the 27-year-old defensive midfielder expected Manchester United to negotiate with Fiorentina to lower the €25m option to make his move to Old Trafford permanent. But that has reportedly not come to fruition, which led the player to look elsewhere.

Foot Mercato adds that Amrabat’s entourage have offered the player to La Liga side Atlético Madrid. Diego Simeone’s Colchoneros are in the market for a defensive midfielder following Saul Niguez’s loan move to Sevilla. The Argentinian manager already held talks with the Morocco international following his breakthrough 2022 World Cup with the Atlas Lions, but a move did not materialize then because Atlético Madrid failed to match Fiorentina’s demands for Amrabat’s transfer.
