Small Chance Ex AC Milan Star Returns For Inter Milan Vs Juventus Serie A Showdown – Replaced By Poland EURO 2024 Star?
There is a small chance that Hakan Calhanoglu will be back in time for Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Juventus this weekend.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that Kristjan Asllani is likely to start the match, and Piotr Zielinski could even get the start in holding midfield.
Calhanoglu started Inter’s Serie A match against Roma last weekend. However, he was barely able to see out ten minutes of the encounter.
The reason for this was an injury that the 30-year-old former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen man had suffered. The problem for Calhanoglu was an elongation of his left adductor.
Medical tests ruled out a serious injury like a thigh strain or tear.
Therefore, Calhanoglu will not be on the sidelines for very long.
But it will still be a few days. The Turkish international will hardly want to rush back to the pitch and risk a more serious injury.
Small Chance Of Hakan Calhanoglu Returning For Inter Vs Juventus Showdown
Tuttosport note that Calhanoglu could very well risk it on Sunday.
The Derby d’Italia against Juventus is one of the most significant matches of Inter’s season. And Calhanoglu is certainly a crucial player for the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, it can’t quite be ruled out yet that Calhanoglu could play the match.
But it is nothing more than a glimmer of hope, Tuttosport reports.
If Calhanoglu is to miss the match, the Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a decision to make.
Against Young Boys in the Champions League yesterday, both Calhanoglu and his main backup Kristjan Asllani were out with injury.
Therefore, Inzaghi decided to go with Nicolo Barella in holding midfield. Barella had also played there for much of the match against Roma after Calhanoglu went off.
But according to Tuttosport, Asllani will get the nod against Juventus. The Albanian should certainly be back from his injury, and would be the most natural option.
Meanwhile, the newspaper note, Inzaghi has also been testing Piotr Zielinski in he holding midfield role in training. That would be one more option for the Nerazzurri coach.
