Sleeping Stars Wake Up To Defeat Sharks 5-2

The Dallas Stars got three goals from three players who desperately needed scoring to help beat the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Wednesday.

Dallas led the way with goals from Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston, Roope Hintz, Evegnii Dadonov, and Jamie Benn. Robertson had two assists and Johnston had an assist to go with their goals. Jake Oettinger made 19 saves.

Mikael Granlund had a goal and an assist Sharks. Jake Walman also scored, and William Eklund extended his point streak to five with an assist on Granlund's goal. Mackenzie Blackwood made 26 saves.

Robertson was on a nine-game goalless streak, and Johnston scored one goal and one assist in his last 14 games.

The Sharks struggled with penalties, especially in the first period, by taking three minors. San Jose held Dallas off the board for powerplay goals, but it severely limited them with puck possession and offensive zone time.

Robertson spins from the high slot and beats Blackwood low-glove to score his fifth goal of the season. Robertson had gone nine games without a goal.

Granlund gets behind the defense shorthanded after William Eklund shoveled a pass to him in the middle. The forward then went backhand to forehand to beat Oettinger and tie the game 1-1.

Johnston capitalized on a bad Sharks change and got behind the defense for his third goal of the season and a 2-1 Stars lead.

Benn makes it a 3-1 Stars lead after Dallas hems San Jose in their zone.

Walman beats Oettinger with a shot to the glove side to make it 3-2. Granlund's assist gives him 400 in his career.

Hintz and Dadonov scored the empty net goals.
