Paulo Fonseca has only been out of a job for around a month since leaving AC Milan, but he is ready to jump back into management again it seems.

According to what is being reported by Sky (among other sources like L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano), Fonseca and Milan are ‘ready to part ways for good’. They are speaking from a contractual point of view, following the dismissal at the end of December.

Fonseca was sacked following the 1-1 draw with Roma on December 30 and just a few hours later it was announced that Sergio Conceição would be taking over. Milan, thus, have two Portuguese coaches on the books at present in terms of paying salaries out.

However, meetings are underway between the club and Fonseca’s entourage to terminate the contract because he is ready to get back into coaching immediately and take Sage’s place at Lyon. For him it will be a return to Ligue 1, after two seasons at the helm of Lille.

It will be another tough job, though. Back on 15 November 2024, it was announced by the DNCG that Lyon would be provisionally demoted to Ligue 2 at the end of the season because of financial mismanagement and would be banned from signing players in January 2025.
