Sky journalist reveals the ‘two doubts’ Fonseca has ahead of facing Bayer Leverkusen
AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca has a couple of days to resolve his selection doubts ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Bayer Leverkusen, and there are a couple that stand out at present.
Milan followed up their derby win against Inter in the best possible way as they beat Lecce 3-0 on Friday night, scoring three goals in five first-half minutes which allowed Fonseca to manage the minutes of key players a bit more.
The second game of the Champions League ‘league phase’ promises to be a very difficult test against the German champions Bayer Leverkusen, who almost went the full season unbeaten under Xabi Alonso and drew yesterday with Bayern Munich.
Speaking on Sky today, the journalist Peppe Di Stefano gave the latest on Milan from outside Milanello ahead of the important Champions League away match against Bayer Leverkusen, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“Will he use the same formation? There are good chances. I think Fonseca will choose tomorrow. This morning there was training. There were some tests, yes, but nothing definitive yet, also because the match was played on Friday,” he began.
“In fact, yesterday was a day of recovery, today was another light day, tomorrow they will try out the formation, then we will leave in the afternoon at 4:30pm from Malpensa towards Cologne and then by bus towards Leverkusen.

“Two good news for Milan: Calabria and Okafor did an individual warm-up on the pitch and then joined the team, so they will be there and will be called up. Looking at the formation, if it were still a 4-2-4, only two doubts, both in defence: who between Calabria and Emerson Royal on the right and who between Pavlovic and Tomori.
“Boniface is a physically very strong, imposing player, and Pavlovic’s physicality could be right for Milan. There is also the concrete possibility that Paulo Fonseca will confirm the same 11 for the third consecutive match, also because this team needs to find more and more dimensions, more and more right countermeasures at a defensive level.”
