Sky Germany: Chelsea ‘intensifying efforts’ to sign forward in potential swap move
Of course, there aren’t often official swap deals these days in football, but you get PSR ‘favour for a favour’ deals instead.
Chelsea have done it a lot in recent times. They sold Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid in the summer and signed Joao Felix back in return. It was an unofficial swap deal to keep on top of PSR, even if it would never be officially reported like that. The fact that Felix is now up for sale should tell you all you need to know about that deal. They needed to take him so they could sell Gallagher, which is what they were so desperately trying to do.
EXCLUSIVE! Enzo Maresca had meeting with Chelsea SDs after Manchester City defeat and asked for TWO signings this window!! – Plus latest on Jhon Duran to Chelsea!!
And now, we have been hearing about many other potential deals of this ilk happening at Chelsea before the end of the January transfer window in just five days time now. But my god are they leaving it all late and have so much work to do if they want to bring a new forward in before it all shuts down again until the summer.
Chelsea back for Tel
All the noise that came out last night was about Chelsea being back in for Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich, a player who they had been pushing for not long ago towards the start of the window.
Sky Germany have their latest report out on it now, and they say Chelsea will now intensify efforts to sign Mathys Tel.
In addition, many other clubs, including Olympique Marseille, have expressed a clear interest in the 19-year-old.
Christopher Nkunku remains an option for FC Bayern as a replacement for Tel. Nkunku would still like to move to Munich. But Chelsea is also in contact with Manchester United for Nkunku.
