Manchester United are rumoured to be orchestrating a sweeping transformation in their backroom staff ahead of the 2024/25 season.

According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, United are planning to add Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake to Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at Old Trafford.

They have already approached former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to join the new coaching staff for next season.

The two moves from INEOS show that United are bracing for a substantial overhaul, aiming not just to revamp their player lineup but also to fortify their support staff significantly.

Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada have taken the role of technical director and CEO respectively.

Dan Ashworth is currently on gardening leave and will don the sporting director’s hat.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been very vocal about building a good structure and environment to help the manager succeed.

The recent moves from the British billionaire display efforts to put his words into action.

Rene Hake is an interesting choice, considering he is the current head coach of the Eredivisie club Go Ahead Eagles.

They finished in 9th spot in the league table last campaign, only eight points behind European giants Ajax.

This was a massive improvement as they managed to beat relegation by merely two points in the 2021/22 season.

It is still not clear what role Hake and Van Nistelrooy will play at Man United. However, having them around Ten Hag could help him improve his in-game management which has not been very impressive at times.

The move for Hake and Van Nistelrooy also casts some major doubts over the futures of current assistants Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren.

The futures of Benni McCarthy and Darren Fletcher also remain unclear.
