Simone Inzaghi after Inter’s Genoa draw: “I’m not satisfied”

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has revealed that he is not satisfied at all after the side’s 2-2 draw against Genoa in the Serie A opening day.

Inter went 1-0 in the 20th minute but two goals from Marcus Thuram helped them turn things around. One goal came late and had to be checked by VAR, before being given.

But in stoppage time, Yann Bissek’s handball meant that Genoa were handed a penalty. Junior Messias took it and it was initially saved by Yann Sommer, but the ex-Milan man tapped home from close range from the rebound.

After the draw, Inzaghi spoke to DAZN and he expressed his disappointment. He said (via FCInter1908):

“There is disappointment because the boys had played a serious and focused game. We created a lot in the first half and conceded a lucky goal, then we were good at recovering: in the second half we were a bit slower. However, I am not satisfied.

“After the goal, I brought Asllani on to manage the ball better. Conceding two goals like that makes it difficult to win matches. the boys played a heartfelt game but it is a draw that does not satisfy us. A team like ours, if it is ahead in the 84th minute, should not concede that goal.”

Inzaghi also had some positive words to say, stating that he saw some good things from the players in various phases.

“They were episodes: I saw the team focused on a difficult pitch, it was giving me very good feelings. It is difficult to bring home the matches with two episodes like that: we have only just started working together, we have to work. For the rest we have not conceded almost anything. Winning is difficult, winning again is even more so.”

Inter’s next game sees them take on Lecce and they would look to get back to winning ways.
