Shooting at downtown Miami park leaves one dead, one seriously hurt, police say
Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found two wounded men inside Maurice Ferrer Park in downtown Miami Monday night, police said.
The two adults were rushed from the park — which is not far from the FTX Arena — to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. One of the men — a man in his 60s — did not survive.
On Tuesday, police said they were looking for the shooter, who was described as being 55 to 60 years old and was last seen wearing a dark hoodie with red logos/letterings on it and dark pants or jeans. He may be armed.
The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. at the park, 1075 Biscayne Blvd. Police immediately set up a perimeter, which included the Miami Heat’s home venue at 601 Biscayne Blvd.
