Shola Shoretire has sent an emotional farewell message to Manchester United supporters as he inches closer to sealing a move to Greek side PAOK.

Shoretire elected to leave United after his contract expired last month. The 20-time English champions made efforts to try and tie him down to fresh terms but he rebuffed all their offers.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the 20-year-old was on the brink of signing for PAOK.

A subsequent video emerged on social media, showing the player arriving in Greece to complete the shock switch.

In the video, Shoretire is seen being serenaded by PAOK fans at the airport.

The Carrington academy graduate has now taken to social media to bid goodbye to United.

He wrote on Instagram, “I joined Manchester United as an 11 year old boy with a dream of one day playing in the first team.”

“I feel extremely proud to be able to say I have achieved that dream.”

“To make it even more special, I was given the opportunity to represent this club in the premier league and in Europe.”

“I’ll forever be grateful to the many players, staff members and supporters that have played a massive part in my journey to this point. From the first day I arrived at the cliff training ground I have felt at home and part of the MUFC family.”

He added, “It’s been a tough decision for me to leave somewhere that’s been all I’ve known for half of my life but i believe this is the right step for me.”

“Once a red…”

“Thank you Manchester United.”

Shoretire made his senior United debut at the age of just 17 and holds the record as the youngest player to represent the Red Devils in a European competition.

He was handed his first-team debut by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Newcastle in February 2021. Four days later, he replaced Marcus Rashford in a Europa League match vs. Real Sociedad.
