Shea Weber out at least 2 games for Predators

Nashville Predators star Shea Weber will miss at least the next two games after suffering a lower-body injury during Friday's series-tying win over the Blackhawks.

The defenceman will not travel with the team to Chicago for Games 3 and 4, the Predators announced Saturday.

Weber was hurt midway through the second period of Nashville's 6-2 victory on Friday night, which evened the first-round series at one game apiece. After being hit by the Blackhawks' Brandon Saad behind the Predators' net, Weber appeared unable to put weight on his right leg as he left the ice.

"I think those things happen," Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said.

"It happens throughout the course of the playoffs. Everybody gets injuries, and you have to deal with them. You have to deal with them in the regular season. Last night, I think it was a real good sign that some guys did elevate their minutes and played in different situations and tried to fill [Weber's] role. We were able to find success doing that."

The hard-shooting anchor of Nashville's defence, Weber averaged 26:22 of ice time per game during the regular season and scored 15 goals.

Forward Mike Fisher, who also left Game 2 with a lower-body injury, was listed as day-to-day and will travel with the Predators.

Game 3 goes Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
