Portsmouth defender Conor Shaughnessy has signed a new three-year contract.

The newly-promoted Championship club also has an option to extend the 27-year-old Irishman's deal by a further 12 months.

Shaughnessy started 45 of Pompey's 46 League One games last season after a summer move from Burton Albion.

He scored four goals, including the winner against Barnsley in April that sealed promotion.

"He was named in the League One Team of the Year and also chipped in with some really important goals – including, of course, that one against Barnsley," Pompey boss John Mousinho told the club website.

"So we were keen to give him a new deal and are delighted to keep Conor at the club for even longer."
