Sharks' Jake Walman Facing Former Team For The First Time Since Trade
San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman will face the Detroit Red Wings for the first time since his offseason trade, but he says it is just another game.
The Sharks acquired Walman and a second-round pick from the Red Wings in June in exchange for future considerations.

"I've got to take the emotions out of it. We're all hockey players, and at the end of the day, a lot of guys know it's a business," Walman said. "It's just another hockey game."
The defenseman played for Detroit from 2022 through the end of the 23-24 season. In 61 games last season, Walman set career-highs in goals (12) and points (21). He's off to a solid start in his San Jose career, with one goal and nine assists in 14 games.
"I saw some of my best buddies on the team last night. There are a couple of other guys I wish I saw, too, but yeah, I'll see them tonight," Walman said. "[I'm] just excited to see those guys out there. It'll be fun. It's always competitive."
Walman is known for his creative celebrations, which his teammates have sometimes performed in front of him during practice.
"I think it's more welcomed here. A bunch of the guys are in on it, and every day, somebody's coming out to me telling me to do it, whether it's in practice or in a game," Walman said. "Guys like it around here, and it's good to see that guys have that personality. Guys are having fun out there."
Walman said he needs to score a goal tonight before deciding whether to bring a specific celebration.
