Sharks Claim Flames Forward Off Waivers

Less than 24 hours after the Calgary Flames placed forward Walker Duehr on waivers, the San Jose Sharks put in a claim and the 27-year-old will be on the move to northern California.

Duehr played 16 games this season, picking up a single assist while averaging 8:48 in ice time a night. He didn't make his season debut until December, but dressed in 16 of the past 20 Calgary games.

The undrafted forward, the first player in NHL history from South Dakota, came to the Flames organization during the 2020-21 season after four years at Minnesota State University, where he scored 25 goals and 51 points in 102 games.

During his time with the Stockton Heat and Calgary Wranglers in the AHL, Duehr scored 37 goals and 69 points in 127 games. He departs the Flames after four seasons and 84 games, collecting only nine goals and 19 points.

Duehr is in the final season of a two-year deal he signed in April 2023, paying him $825,000 annually.
