Alexandar Georgiev has had success in the NHL before, but now, with the San Jose Sharks, he will work closely with Thomas Speer.

While with the New York Rangers, Georgiev worked with Benoit Allaire, one of the all-time great goalie coaches. The Rangers franchise has notoriously had top goalie talent for a long time, especially now with Igor Shesterkin.
While with the Rangers, Georgiev made a name for himself and became a sought-after No. 1 goalie by the Colorado Avalanche. No goalie had won more regular season games over the last two seasons than Georgiev. Despite that, his struggles led him to get traded to San Jose.

Speer has become one of the best up-and-coming goalie coaches in the NHL, and Georgiev said there are things he's already picking up in just a short period of working with him.
"He's very supportive, very positive. He's excited to work with me, and we already spoke on a couple of things that he brought to my attention, too," Georgiev said. "I'm very happy to get another very, very good voice around me that he's gonna help my game."
While the basics of goaltending are generally the same, Georgiev recognizes that each player plays the position differently. The 28-year-old says Speer is bringing things to his attention that weren't there before.
"All guys play kind of differently. They find their own style, but I feel the basement of the house is the same," Georgiev said. "Every coach has little details that they want to focus more on, and I'm very happy that Speer is here. He's bringing my attention to different things that we didn't really talk about previously."
Georgiev's first game with the Sharks was a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues. In that game, Georgiev only had to make 17 saves, but he faced a lot of high-danger chances. According to Natural Stat Trick, eight of the 17 shots were considered high-danger, and he stopped six.

"You want to start off pretty well and get the first one," Georgiev said. "The guys played great. [They] just spent a lot of time in the offensive zone, took care of the defense, and helped me out a lot. I felt that everybody was really helping out to get that one for me."
San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky didn't name a starting goalie for Tuesday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.
