Shane Beamer shares encouraging updates on LaNorris Sellers, Rocket Sanders

South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer provided an injury update on starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers and running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders ahead of USC’s home game versus Ole Miss this weekend.

“He was good today. He did everything in practice, for sure,” Beamer said of Sellers on Tuesday during the coach’s weekly press conference.

Sellers sprained his ankle in the first half versus LSU in Week 3 and did not play in USC’s win over Akron in Week 4. Last Sunday, Beamer said Sellers had his boot off Sunday and ran around in the indoor facility.

Beamer on Tuesday was similarly optimistic about Sanders, who spent much of the Akron game in a boot on his left foot after suffering an injury early on.

“They both looked good,” Beamer said. “They weren’t 100% but they both told me they felt good.”

In his post-Akron teleconference, Beamer designated Sanders as “the most questionable” among all the recovering Gamecocks (wide receiver Jared Brown -- who also missed Akron -- offensive lineman Aaryn Parks and tight end Michael Smith) had USC’s first bye week been scheduled for another time. The break served him well, though, as Beamer predicted last weekend when he said “I think everybody should be fine for Ole Miss.”

South Carolina will battle No. 12 Ole Miss at home this weekend in what feels like the biggest game of the season. The Gamecocks will look to nab their first ranked win after suffering a heartbreaking loss to the LSU Tigers in Week 3. Former USC WR1 Antwane “Juice” Wells will also make his return to Williams-Brice Stadium since entering the transfer portal last year.
