Sevilla star leaves pitch in tears as he’s stretchered off in Real Valladolid clash
Sevilla FC have just concluded their match against Real Valladolid at home in league action. Despite winning 2-1, Sevilla will be left with a bittersweet feeling as they will be worrying about one of their key midfielders who came off injured early in the second half.
Summer signing Saúl Ñíguez was forced off on a stretcher in the 53rd minute of the encounter at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjúan, with the 29-year-old left in tears as he departed the pitch.
Things didn’t look good for the midfielder and now many will speculate that he could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines just as his time at his new club was getting started.
Saúl had only made four appearances for Sevilla since joining in the summer but now will face an anxious wait as he awaits a verdict on the seriousness of his injury and the length of his recovery.
Saúl’s move from Atlético Madrid on loan got many Spanish football fans talking, as people wondered whether he could get back to his best football from just a few years ago.
Everyone at GSFN wishes Saúl a speedy recovery and a quick return to action.
