The powers that be at Sevilla are working hard on the signing of a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.

The name of wide-man Ansu has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines at Barcelona over the course of the last week.

As much comes after the 21-year-old, fresh off a hugely underwhelming loan stint away from the Blaugrana, linked back up with his parent club for pre-season training.

Barcelona’s plans for Ansu have long marked a source of contention amongst those associated with the club, with supporters desperate for their gifted young attacker to be afforded another chance, but the board understood to be giving consideration to a summer sale.

And, in the midst of as much, one club continuing to put pressure on Deco and co. to sanction a transfer come in the form of the aforementioned Sevilla.

As per a report from Sport, on Sunday:

‘The Sevillian club has insisted to Barça about the loan of Ansu Fati, reminding them that they are willing to open the doors to him in the event that the Blaugrana club dispenses with him.’

Barcelona, for the time being, intend to include Ansu in their squad list bound for a pre-season tour of the USA.

Should the Catalans ultimately achieve their market goals, and sign both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, however, there will be no room remaining for the once so highly touted La Masia product.

And, in this scenario, Sevilla are ready to swoop, ‘convinced that without European competition, Ansu could return to his best level’.
