(Cda-Campus-Protests)

The University of Toronto is asking a court to move quickly to hear its request for an injunction to clear a pro-Palestinian protest that has been on campus since May 2nd.

University officials issued a trespass notice on Friday ordering demonstrators to remove their encampment by 8 a.m.

The protesters haven't budged and are instead being joined by labour groups for a rally.

They continue to ask the school to disclose public investments in companies profiting from Israel's offensive in Gaza and cut ties with two Israeli academic institutions. (7)

Undiplomatic words are flying in advance of Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognizing a Palestinian state tomorrow.

Israeli authorities summoned the countries' ambassadors in Tel Aviv to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, where they were shown videos of the October 7th Hamas attack and kidnapping.

Spain's foreign minister is criticizing the treatment of the ambassadors and calling on Israel to stop its offensive in Rafah. (7)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (voh-loh-DEHM’-ehr zuh-LANS’-kee) is in Madrid to sign a 1.2-billion-dollar U-S bilateral security agreement with Spain.

The deal will see Spain supply Ukraine with more weapons.

The cross-border offensive that Russia launched earlier this month in the northeastern Kharkiv region has further strained Ukraine's already depleted army and brought Ukraine's biggest military test since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. (7)

(UN-World-Health-Assembly)

The head of the World Health Organization is insisting this week's assembly in Geneva isn't a failure.

Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (TED'-rohs ad-HAN'-um geh-BRAY'-sus) is hoping government ministers and top envoys can reinforce global preparedness for the next pandemic.

That's even though efforts to adopt a pandemic ``treaty'' have been shelved after two-and-a-half years of work failed to produce a draft.

W-H-O officials want to develop an accord based on the premise that pathogens have no regard for national borders and require a united response from all countries. (7)

(Indigo-Privatization)

Indigo shareholders are set to vote this morning on a sweetened offer from a holding company that plans to take the bookstore chain private.

The offer is from companies owned by Indigo chief executive Heather Reisman's husband Gerald Schwartz.

The offer already has the support of a special committee of independent directors that Indigo formed and has been approved by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. (7)

(TEN-French-Open-Watching-Nadal)

Tennis fans from around the world are gathering at Roland Garros to watch Rafael Nadal play what might be his last French Open match.

He's scheduled to play on day two of the tournament against number-four seed Alexander Zverev and tennis fans want to witness what feels like a monumental occasion.

Nadal turns 38 on June 3rd and had indicated he will be retiring at some point this year.

Seventy-five-year-old retiree Cathy Davis from Toronto is part of a tennis tour group and says she is a supreme "Rafa" fan because he's the king of the overhead smash and is very humble off the court. (7)
