Seven Former WHLers Named To ECHL's 2024-25 Midseason All-Star Team
The WHL is well represented on this year's ECHL 2024-25 Midseason All-Star Team. From recent grads to players who are already in their mid-20s, seven players with WHL experience were named to this year's list. Who is a look at the seven names that may be familiar to WHL fans.
Eastern Conference All-Stars
Parker Berge- Greenville Swamp Rabbits
Parker Berge is having a strong start to his ECHL career. The 22-year-old defenceman, who spent time with both the Regina Pats and Everett Silvertips, is one of the top-scoring defenders in the ECHL with 24 points in 34 games. If Berge keeps producing at this level, it shouldn't be long before he finds himself moving up the ranks and into the AHL.
Davis Koch- Jacksonville Icemen
After spending the last few seasons in Germany, Davis Koch is back in the ECHL. The former Edmonton Oil Kings and Vancouver Giants forward has 26 points in 39 games, which ranks first on the Jacksonville Icemen. If he can keep up the strong play, it should be enough to help the Icemen secure a playoff spot this season.
Atley Calvert- Wheeling Nailers
Another new face to the ECHL is Atley Calvert. After a long, successful career with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Calvert is off to a flying start in the pros with 35 points in 35 games. Currently ranked fourth in the league for points, Calvert will have his eyes on back-to-back championship runs after helping the Warriors qualify for the Memorial Cup last season.
Western Conference
Brayden Watts- Allen Americans
Before Bryaden Watts was lighting up the ECHL, he was a force at the WHL level. Watts played over 300 games split between the Warriors, Giants and Prince Albert Raiders before making the jump to pro in 2019-20. An experienced player with over 250 games at the ECHL level, Watts has carved out a strong pro career since he departed the WHL.
Cam Hausinger- Indy Fuel
Cam Hausinger is another experienced ECHLer who hasn't played in the WHL the last few seasons. Hausinger played 317 WHL games and saw action with the Saskatoon Blades, Red Deer Rebels and Kootenay ICE. With 23 points in 32 games, he has become a key part of the Indy Fuel's lineup this season.
Sloan Stanick- Tahoe Knight Monsters
Sloan Stanick is having a rookie ECHL season to remember. The former Pats and Raiders forward leads the league in points with 40 in 36 games and is a big reason why the Tahoe Knight Monsters rank second in the conference. It's best to keep tabs on Stanick, as he has the potential to develop into a special player.
Michael Farren- Tulsa Oilers
Michael Farren has become a household name for Tulsa Oilers fans. The former Kelowna Rockets, Saskatoon Blades and Swift Current Broncos forward has 29 points in 34 games and is on pace to smash his career-high of 31. With two and a half seasons under his belt, it looks as though Farren has settled into the ECHL and become a crucial part of the Oilers lineup.
