Serie A table updated after Week 18: Three horse race, Fonseca sacrificed

Serie A table update after Week 18
Still on top of the table for now, Atalanta had to settle for a point away from home against Marco Baroni’s high-flying Lazio side on Saturday.
Atalanta’s draw meant that Napoli were able to move level on points with them after a routine 1-0 win at home against Venezia on Sunday.
Inter, who beat Cagliari 3-0 away from home on Saturday, are now in third, but are just two points off Atalanta and Napoli with a game in hand.
Lazio make up the current Champions League positions as things stand, with 35 points from their first 18 league matches of the 2024-25 campaign.
Fiorentina, who hung on for a 2-2 draw away against Juventus on Sunday, remain in fifth place in Serie A. Juve, coincidentally, sit just behind La Viola in sixth, level on points, albeit having played one game more than Raffaele Palladino’s side.
Seventh place currently belongs to Bologna, who were beaten 3-2 at home by Hellas Verona after playing for most of the second half with 10 men on Monday night.
Eight place is where Milan currently sit. The Rossoneri were held to a 1-1 draw by Roma, which proved to be Paulo Fonseca’s final game in charge of the club. He has since been replaced by Sergio Conceicao.
